Random Facts About ME!

So, I regularly follow Amy at The Idea Room, and she did a link party on random facts about herself, and I figured I would join in.
10 Random Facts about ME!

1. I have 8 pets! I plan on doing a blog all about them in the future, but the countdown is: 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, 1 bird, 1 turtle, and 2 fish!

2. I love Disney movies, and I cry for EVERY ONE OF THEM! Their stories just get to me! And the characters are so endearing. The last one I cried my heart out for was Raymond from Princess and the Frog.

3. I hate deteste rough-textured things! i.e. sand paper, nail files, porcelain without glaze, terracotta pots. They give me the frijons! (shivers for those of you who are not from South Louisiana) To file my nails shivers me to the bone.

4. I am completely undecided if I want more children. I have one son who is 3 1/2. I have completely mixed feelings on the topic, which I planned on discussing later.....

5. My name is Alison, and I am addicted to chocolate! The best part of after Christmas sales is finding the Ghirardelli squares on clearance!

6. I am obsessed with clothes! I need to stop! Really, I am running out of room!

7. My most favorite band ever is Aerosmith! I got to see them once for my 19th birthday. Better yet, STP opened the show! It was awesome!!

8. My all time favorite show is Golden Girls. I love the witty characters, and extreme yet realistic situations. Love me some Golden Girls!

9. Phineas and Ferb! Nuff said! One of the greatest cartoons on TV as of now.

10. I love the smell of laundry detergent. I love going down the aisle at the store and smelling them. I guess this weird obsession started young; I tried to eat some when I was 4!

There you have it! Some facts about me! Please feel free to share facts about yourself! After all, this post probably made you feel better about yourself! Hahaha!

Sorry about my Hiatus!

So sorry for my few followers that I have not been blogging! I've still been following though! Things were just getting too busy for me. And I couldn't find the time to sit and share thoughts and ideas. I was having a really hard time finding balance in my life.
It's hard to be a wife, mother, cook, housekeeper, and teacher all at once.
Some days I don't think I had anytime to just think for myself.
But I am changing that.
And no it is not a resolution; I don't make those.
But I have concluded this:
It doesn't matter if my house is spotless.
It doesn't matter if I don't get to the dishes after supper becsause I wanted to play with my son.
It doesn't matter if dinner is not on the table at exactly 5.
What does matter is that my family is happy and healthy, including myself.
And playing is what will make us happier and healthier, not worrying about missing a daily chore for the day.
But I really needed these 2 weeks off (that is what's absolutely GREAT about being a teacher!) to get back on track to my happiness!
And I did!

Now don't get me wrong!
I'm not letting my house go disarray!
I'm just not going to be OCD about it!
I'm reorganizing my routine so that I can enjoy both a happy family AND a nice house!

Happy Postings!
And: I'm BACK!

Upgrade, Please!

So, I am all giddy inside! Why you may ask?
Because of this beauty!
Home Depot has an awesome sale where this is 1/2 price!
(All other appliances are also on a great sale!)
Then, I get 18 months of no interest!
So we are upgrading from a refrigerator that is probably older than us, to this!
I can't wait! The only down side, they didn't have any in the store so we had to order it. We can't get it until December 7th. But, delivery and hauling away our old one is free!

I just hope our other one doesn't get angry and break before we get it in!
I've been waiting for that one to break at any moment for the past 4 months!

Favorite Things Thursday!

Sorry I've been gone so long.
Lately it seems I haven't had much time for myself.
But, I figured I would have a comeback and join Courtney at LoveLove for My Fav Things Thursday.
Well, in my household I have 2 dogs. And I HATE having the dog smell in my house. I rather you see that I have dogs instead of smelling that I have dogs. So I am constantly looking for the new and improved item that helps me keep it that way. Right now I am loving this:
It is the quality of febreze, with the Gain scent. I have always been a fanatic about laundry detergent scents. At 4 years old I even tried to eat some detergent. (Don't remember that, but my mom says I did it)
The scent lasts after I blow the candle out. And for $5, that pretty darn good if I should say so myself.
So right now, I'm lovin this item!

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Well, it's been a while!
What has happened in my life since my last post?
Well:
-I had a birthday, 28 years young, or old, depending on the day.
-I'm half way done with my Christmas shopping.
-I decided to finally get an idea for a scrap book for my son.
-I am so looking forward to have my Thanksgiving break.
-I will be going to book our Disney trip for next year soon, so I've been thinking about that.
-We went to the zoo as a family. Didn't take any pics though since we all had a cold.
-Went out to watch a local band and partied it up with the girls.
-Now I'm deaf in my right ear because of the band!
-I am also now anticipating my next blog. It will consist of our dress up days for Homecoming week.
-We will be going camping this weekend for Halloween. Can't wait! Will take pics!

Tell next time, take care!

Why Does He Have to Grow Up?

So, I've been a ball of emotion lately with my son growing up.
I looked at some of his baby pictures yesterday, and cried.
Even though my son has long been out of his crib/toddler bed, it has been stashed in our extra room along with some ride-on toys that he still rides, but is essentially too big for now.
So up they went into the attic, but not before he kissed them goodbye.... *Sniff* I cried some more.
Here are some pics of my son over the past year and a half:

Ok, I think that is enough picture overload.
But look at how much he has changed. He doesn't have the chubby little baby face anymore.
Needless to say, this past summer alone he grew one size in clothing and 2 sizes in shoes.
My little man!

Stop the Insanity!

I can't control myself!
There must be a 12 step program!

I just bought another necklace. Through reading one of my follower's blogs, The Juici Life, I came across this etsy shop called Cuppy Cake. All of the jewelry is made from recycled cans! How ingenious! I bought one that looks like this except made from a cherry coke can.

How cute is that?
And don't forget about the giveaway I am wishing to win so I can have a family keepsake necklace.
The giveaway is sponsored by Lee la la. The necklace is made by a jewelry artist, Michelle. Her etsy shop is called Silver Wren, where you can view all of her beautiful creations.

I must STOP!

I Give a Hoot on a Monday!

I am a teacher. That explains a good bit of how Mondays go.
So after a million "Mrs. Thompson, is this right? What do I do next? Hem at 3 inches? Seriously, I have to rip out these stitches?", I am pooped by the end of the day to come home and be a mother, a cook, and a housewife.
But today was a little different. Well, for one this is my 2nd blog in 2 days! *Gasp!*
I came home to find out my friend and her triplets she gave birth to are all doing great!
The weather is so nice without the humidity! It was actually great sitting outside!
And then.....there was more!
I participated in a mail swap at Our Life: Narrated by Lacey, and I received my SURPRISE!
I was sooooooo happy! Check out the goods!
How cute! I had a whole box of goodies!
But then, there was more! I ordered a necklace on Saturday, and that was waiting for me too! Check it out!

Awesome, right!
And then my son asks me for a drink, I ask him what would he like, and got no answer.

I guess his day was exciting also!

And a huge thanks to Stephanie at Tart Deco! You made my entire week!!!!!!!

My Conclusion!

I have come to the conclusion that I am HORRIBLE at keeping up with this! To find the time, well, it just doesn't happen often!
But I will make an effort to post more often!
I will make an effort to post some pictures up of my family!

Oh, by the way, to my "followers" (hehe, sounds like a cult, or something), family pictures were postponed due to Cy having a bo-bo by his eye, and my husband looking like a raccoon from his weekend at the racetrack. And I did decide to go with some type of color scheme (Thanks Lacey) with our clothing as opposed to wearing all the same thing. I think that will be better so that we can be more expressive with our clothing to match our personalities.

Until then, which I will make an effort to be soon, take care!

Sometimes, Gotta Learn the Hard Way.

Let's just say, lesson learned.
Always buy a mattress protector. Always.
We didn't. I said "There is no reason for that. We don't allow Cy to sleep in our bed, so, we shouldn't have any reason to put one on."
Well, since J is out of town for the weekend, that seemed to have made Cy a little uncomfortable to go to bed last night. So, about 10 minutes after tucking him in, he comes in my room. I decided I would invite him in my bed for a "camp-out."
3:45 A.M.
He wakes up, calls for me, and tells me he just peed.
Great.
Changed him, my sheets, got him a new "ducky", soaked up pee with towel (as much as possible), threw it all in the washing machine, and went to get some more zzzzzz's before 5:00 came around.
I am going to QVC.com right now to buy a protector.
And now I need to borrow my mom's upholstery cleaner to clean the stinky pee spot out of my bed.

Where Do I Begin With This?

So, I am having a hard time of starting with this.
Where do I begin?
???????????????????????????
Well, I guess starting to introduce my family would be a good start. But then that makes me think of pictures. Unfortunately (and shamefully), we have never taken a family picture. I've decided to take care of that; we are getting some done on Saturday.
But, now here is the hard part: what to wear?!?
Should I do the whole "matchy" thing? (where everyone wears the same color tops and bottoms)
Or should we "match", but without wearing all the same thing?
Suggestions are welcome (if anyone is even reading)!

Sooooo, this is new!

Hello all! This is all really new to me! I've read many blogs, and decided to begin my own. Hopefully, I can keep up with it in the midst of my crazy, busy days!

I am collecting a huge array of hobbies, and would like to share some of the things I have done.

I would also love to share my family life with all of you!

Those of you with children, you know there is never a dull moment!

I look forward to starting this new endeavor! Thanks!
